Custom Field "Tags"

Hi again,

I know, EL is designed for another thing... but since EL has one Custom Field Type called "Related Articles", i would like to ask for another Custom Field Type: Custom Field "Tags"

The idea is create just the same as "Joomla core Tags", but in Custom Fields (for example, in backend you can select one tag from a list, or insert a new one "on the fly". Or in the frontend, tags are linkable and creates pages of related articles or articles about the same subjet)

Why dont use the actual Joomla Tags? While you just have one Joomla Tag system, with joomla custom fields Tags you could create several instances of tags groups. (tags for my Training category, tags for my News category, tags for my users, etc.)

Also you would have more flexibility in displaying them.

Ok, it is just an idea...do not take me too seriously
Or maybe called "Custom Field: Keywords"

what you really want is the ability to group tags - ideally that should be a change in Joomla itself but it could be complex to implement.

I'll have a think about a keywords type field or a list type field where authorised users can add more of them.

I guess you would be wanting links based on these fields and filtering.

yes, this is the most important thing, and the fundamental difference from a simple Custom Field "List" type. (and maybe the more complex to do)

PD: Think about the "Intro Image" and the "Full Article Image" of Joomla Articles. Now, we have a Custom Type Field called "Media", and with it we have more options. For example we can create more than one "intro image" and an also several "full article images", and a lot of possibilities more. So, Custom Field "Media" have reemplaced and improved the old "intro image" and "full article image"...
So, in a similar way, a new Custom Field "Tags" or "Keywords" could reemplace and improve the "old" Joomla Tags component.
