Hello,
I have to display a list contacts in a category, more precisely I must display these fields:

  • Name
  • URL website
  • Miscellaneous informations.

Joomla is very limited to display a list contacts in a category, in fact only certain fields can be displayed (URL website and miscellaneous informations can't be displayed)
EL allows to build a layout only for a single contact, do you think it would be possible to add a layout for a list contacts in a category?

Thank you,

Lorenzo
...support, PLEASE!!!!!
I've been looking into this. Hopefully we can have this available in version 1.11

...it would be really appreciated, the only extension that allow to manage a contact list with pagination it's Trombinoscope Contacts Pro component, but it is oversized for what I have to do ...

Thank you,

Lorenzo
I have the basics plumbing of this working but need to know if you would be looking for a tabular list view (like the content list view) or a list of blocks of data

...I can't see the difference between a tabular list view and a list of blocks of data (maybe you have an example to show me?)

Here is an example of what I would like to do.

In any case I could then display contacts as I want with some flex rules, the most important thing for me is to be able to display some information from Contacts component.

Thank you again :)

That is a block based list view - a big like the content blog view. I'll see if I can set it up to offer both alternatives. Hope to have something for you by the end of tomorrow

... thank you very much :)
I've had to start self isolation today because my four year old has a slight cough and I have to look after him today. Will try to take a look later, when he's playing by himself or watching a film. Unfortunately its rather complex to implement so will be tricky to do on my laptop.

May be easier in the short term if I help you with a template override for com_contact OR you could link a contact to an article and use the com_content blog view?

I totally understand the situation, I live in Italy and I’m confined in my house for more than a week… this should not be done today, do you think it's possible to integrate this new feature for the end of the month?
It could be difficult - it was a false alarm with my son, he just had some getting up coughs and was then fine all day and thereafter (not even a cold) but the schools have closed and my wife works for the health service so I have to do the childcare. My wife has a day off today so I can get some work done but that isn't enough time to do this.

As I said I could help you with a template override or you could link the contacts to content items. If there isn't a plugin to allow you to associate a contact with an article I could put that together quite quickly.

...again I totally understand the situation.
I think I’ve found a module (https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/contacts-and-feedback/contact-details/azdirectory/) that could suit me, more this extension provides the ability to filter contacts with an alphabetical index (like a glossary's index), this is precisely what I would have liked to have as a filtering option.

Thanks in any case, I hope that these options (contacts category layout + filtering via alphabetical index) will be available in a future version of EL because in the current state, Contact layout is quite restrictive…

Thank you again,

Lorenzo
