Hi,
I'm creating a knowledge database for a customer. Each entry / article has a "published on" field (as custom field). The customer would like to be able to search something like "published the last three months" or "older than 5 years". It is somehow possible to have such a search?

Best regards
Viviana

PS: I'm a fan of custom fields and selfmade overrides, but for this project EasyLayouts was the perfect choice!

The client site has now 171 articles and the search is working ;)

I sent yout the info for the invoice as direct message last week.

Thank you again for the help!
I've added it as an override for you.

Please do some testing and if all is ok let me know in a direct message where to send the invoice.

Thanks

Geraint

Hey, that looks great! Thank you!

The translation of "Select a date range" will be "Wählen Sie einen Datumsbereich" (I suppose, it is a language variable so we can create a language override for this).
I've added an extra field called Veröffentlicht2 to demonstrate how it will work - try your test page now and let me know what you think.

I'll need a translation or alternative phrase for 'Select a date range'

Hi Geraint,
yes, of course we can change the field type to calendar.
Hi Viviana

I'm ready to implement this on your client test site I have some test code that works on my site - it just needs to be customised for your specific situation.

However I noticed that your custom field "Veröffentlicht " is a list field with just the year number.

Does it make sense to change this to a calendar input field for a specific date? The reason I ask this is that we can't do 'last 12 months' with just the year value, we would need to change it to 'this year'.

Let me know and I'll have the changes implemented within a couple of hours.

I'm sending you a PM (see the envelope icon at the top of this page).

Sorry for the late answer, the notification mail went to my spam folder :(
Can you please tell me how many do you want to charge for the development? I will talk to my customer about that.
Thank you
This 'could' be done but you would need a custom filter for your selections which I would need to charge a modest fee to implement.

The idea of the customer was to have a "published after..." or something like this:
in den letzten 12 Monaten (last 12 months)
in de letzten 3 Jahren (last 3 years)
in den letzten 5 Jahren (last 5 years)
in den letzten 10 Jahren (last 10 years)
in den letzten 15 Jahren (last 15 years)
älter als 15 Jahre (older than 15 years)

I don't know what is possible and realisable....
What I was envisaging was the following question to the user.

Search for articles published before [radiobox] or after [radiobox] year [select field]

Would you need 'on or after' and 'on or before' year questions?

1. At the moment it is a select field with a list of years (not really nice), but I can change it
2. I'm not sure what do you mean...
3. I'm using the filter module from EasyLayout (see the link in the private details, the page is under construction)
A couple of questions:
1. Is this custom field a calendar type field?
2. Would a 2 input filter work? i.e. a before/after selector and a date input field?
3. Would it be ok to use the EasyLayouts filter module as the search mechanism?
